Over the last few years members of the NECPA have been recycling waste acrylic awning fabric and making it into shelter tarps to be deployed when disaster strikes. The Philippine typhoon is just such a disaster and the tarps are being sent by Americares (www.americares.org ) based in Stamford CT and the Filipino American Charitable Trust to provide some needed shelter to displaced Filipinos. The NECPA has added an additional $500 cash donation the Filipino American Charitable Trust. (www.fact-usa.org).

Futureguard Awnings has sent over 8000 lbs of cut off acrylic waste fabric to Awning Cleaning Inc, based in New Haven CT who has been handling the collection, processing and tarp fabrication. In total, over 15,000 lbs of waste fabric has been recycled or repurposed by NECPA members.
